FHT 2012: Closing Insights and Knowledge Gained

BKK: At the close of the regions premier hospitality and food event, Food and Hotel Thailand 2012 has grown 29% in size from the previous year and has showcased 271 participants from 26 countries including 9 international pavilions. This exciting growth mirrors Thailand’s strong tourism and hospitality industry as the country continues to attract investment due to its rising domestic demands, high number of tourist arrivals and strategic gateway advantages to the region as it prepares for the emergence of ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) 2015.

Mr. Justin Pau, General Manager, Bangkok Exhibition Services (BES) Ltd, organizer of FHT pointed out: “Tourism is now recognized as Thailand’s most substantial service industry with a target of 22.22 million international tourist arrivals in 2013. He went on to add: “Thailand’s tourism, food and hospitality industries can be strengthened by FHT because it brings new and premium products, suppliers, technology and trends to market through its trusted trade exhibition, conference and activity platforms.”

VDA Asia Pacific Ltd. graciously supported a one-day hotel technology conference organized by Pertlink Hong Kong on September 5th. This conference was well attended, namely by hotel operators, hotel technology companies and other technology-interested professionals. The focus was on what is wrong with Hotel technology? This was a way to gain insight from guest driven feedback on technology and the outlook of its direction in the hotel industry. The experienced and well known panel members consisted of distinguished hotelier and operators within the region.

The consensus came to a market demand in high quality guest facing technology in the guest rooms. From an operational point of view, hoteliers are looking for unified in room solutions that can be managed with ease and deliver  services beyond what is available in the homes. Solutions such as POWERTV ONAIR integrates the guest room television, mobile devices and room controls into a unified working system that touches the guest with minimal maintenance from the hotel operational staff.
